Making beautiful beaded pens easy, doesn't take long, is not very expensive, and lots of fun! My daughter used to make them and after seeing hers I asked how she did it and tried it myself. There are several websites you can go to as well for instructions, but here's how I do it.

Materials needed: (found in most craft stores)

Any inexpensive straight-sided ball point pen, such as BIC. I use Pilot BP-S Fine point.

Any kind of mini beads you like, any color (and there are many!)

Tiny Glass Marbles or No Hole Glitter Beads, 1 or 1.5 mm size

Red Liner double-sided tape (comes in rolls or by the sheet. I use 1 inch width, but it comes in many sizes. It is a very strong adhesive which works best for staying power of the beads. It has a distinctive red color, and can go by different names such as Wonder Tape or Star Line)

Any piece of colored foil or gift wrap

paper

pen or pencil

scissors

Instructions:

Remove top from pen (you will not be able to use it once beads are on pen.)

Wrap a piece of paper around the pen. The side edges should meet exactly and the ends should go from the top of the pen down to where it begins to angle inward toward the point. Cut the paper to fit, this will be your pattern.

Cut two pieces of tape the same size as the paper pattern. Cut one piece of foil or gift wrap paper the same size.

Peel one side of the first piece of tape and wrap it around the pen.

Peel the second side of the tape and wrap it with the foil or gift wrap paper piece.

Peel one side of the second piece of tape and wrap it around the pen on top of the foil or paper. It is important that there is no space at all between the edges of the tape. It is all right if they overlap slightly.

Peel the second side of the tape.

Place the beads in a low-sided pan or dish and roll the pen in the beads, completely covering the tape.

Roll pen back and forth in your hands a few times to further secure the beads and to drop any loose beads.

Hold pen over dish and now sprinkle the glass marbles or no hole glitter beads over the pen, one side at a time. Push the beads with your fingers into the nooks and crannies that the larger beads didn't fill, until your gone all the way around the pen. This will make sure all of the pen is covered, plus, it adds more color and dimension to the pen.

Roll the pen back and forth in your hands again to be sure the beads are secure.

Done! The pens make lovely gifts, or you can use them as party favors.

I also make mine so the ink is refillable. That way you can use the pen a lot longer.

You can also put them in a pen box and sell them at craft shows!
