When I was still doing craft shows, I found these great McCall's patterns for making  critters from t-shirts by tying the shirts with strong thread into various shapes and then tie-dying them. There were crabs, snakes, lobsters, fish, slugs, dinosaurs, alligators (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!). Plus, I made up a few of my own, like turtles, starfish, octopus, whale, goose, teddy bears and bunnies, and other assorted shapes. I called them Tee-Bits. Anyway, if you untied the shirt, you had a unique design on it! It was lots of fun and I sold a lot of them.

I would love to share the instructions with you but the back of the pattern brochures tell me because of copyright I can't. (I put a picture of the cover here anyway, maybe you can still find them in the fabric shops!) Here are some pictures of past critters I have made.
